There’s something up with the wifi in Barney and Norma’s new appartment - DEAD END! To get back online they might have to travel the interwebs and face off against a vengeful and sassy ghost!
DEAD END was pitched as I was in the final year of Kingston University’s Animation & Illustration course. I wrote and boarded the short, while Mel Roach (Rocket Dog) directed the animation.
The short began as an cartoon for adults but partway through production, Cartoon Hangover changed their minds on their business model and we had to cut a lot of the dirtier moments. That said, references to porn and at least one bad word remain in there. Watch at your peril!
The short was a modest hit and we pitched the concept of a full series around to several studios, getting quite far with Nickelodeon. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out but it led to me creating the DeadEndia comics and continuing to work with Nickelodeon for the next few years.
