The series is an adaptation of my original Cartoon Hangover pilot DEAD END, and was in turn adapted into an animated series DEAD END: PARANORMAL PARK for Netflix in 2022 which I showran. It lead to my Russ Manning Promising Newcomer Award at the Eisner’s. In 2013, I self-published the first edition of Pantheon in black and white through Kickstarter. It came under the radar of Nobrow Press who have since published the extended, full-colour version. The inspiration for Pantheon was simply my desire to read a book like it. I had read some Eygptian mythology and loved it, but whenever I looked for books adapting it, I would only find children’s books which censored all the juiciest details or stuffy academic textbooks. Through their get rich quick schemes and Urchin's irrepressible optimism, the trio find themselves on an adventure with twists, turns and lots of laughter. THE TALL TALES OF URCHIN came about after a rocky production on my previous Nickelodeon short. For this short, I was put in touch with Blink Industries and this ended up being my first of many projects with them. This short was developed for about a year into a potential series at Nickelodeon. Another pilot was written and I created a lot more concept art (shown below). Unfortunately, it didn’t get picked up, partly because the subject matter just kept skewed too old. But I am still looking at ways to adapt this project into something new, as I have a fascination with the Victorian era that is yet to be sated. But when they uncover a plot to overthrow humanity from the other animals, they must actually do their job for once! DEAD END caught the attention of the Nickelodeon Shorts Program and I was invited to pitch something. BADLY DRAWN ANIMALS was a lot of fun to make - especially working with THE Finn &amp; Jake, Jeremy Shada and John DiMaggio. But the production was rocky and slightly mismanaged, with our delivery date moved forward dramatically in the middle of animation.&nbsp; Despite all that, we made something I’m still proud of (and the title gives us a lot of leeway). The whole thing I was made in my bedroom before Working From Home was in the in thing. Nickelodeon invited me back to produce another short but this time, I was given a production company to work with. Cartoon Hangover Frederator Studios There’s something up with the wifi in Barney and Norma’s new appartment - DEAD END! To get back online they might have to travel the interwebs and face off against a vengeful and sassy ghost! DEAD END was pitched as I was in the final year of Kingston University’s Animation &amp; Illustration course. I wrote and boarded the short, while Mel Roach (Rocket Dog) directed the animation.&nbsp; The short began as an cartoon for adults but partway through production, Cartoon Hangover changed their minds on their business model and we had to cut a lot of the dirtier moments. That said, references to porn and at least one bad word remain in there. Watch at your peril! The short was a modest hit and we pitched the concept of a full series around to several studios, getting quite far with Nickelodeon.
